Understanding the Ingredients: What Is In Vape Liquid

Propylene glycol is one of the two main ingredients in most e-liquids. This colourless liquid is used in e-liquids because PG is an excellent carrier for flavourings and nicotine, allowing them to be effectively vaporized. PG has a thinner e-liquid consistency than VG and produces less clouds of vapour, delivering more of a throat hit similar to a cigarette. Thinner e-liquid with a higher PG content is often found in 50-50 vape liquids, which work well in standard vape kits with coil ratings above 1 ohm and can accommodate higher nicotine strengths.

The other of the two main ingredients, vegetable glycerine, is a clear, slightly sweet tasting, colourless liquid. VG is perfect e-liquid for creating the bigger clouds that many vapers enjoy. This increased vapour production also allows for more flavour concentrate to be inhaled, leading to a bolder vaping experience. VG has a very thick consistency and is the primary component in high VG e-liquids, often with an 80-20 VG and PG ratio. These thicker liquid vapes are ideal for sub-ohm vape devices (coils below 1 ohm) but typically have lower nicotine strengths because VG isn't as efficient a carrier as PG.
